Description:

MetaBroadcast

MetaBroadcast is a start-up working on social web services and applications around video and audio. We've developed Atlas, the video and audio index, and now maintain the open-source project and community around it. We've also developed a social platform which, with Atlas, helps us build advanced social broadcast propositions, such as Test Tube Telly for Channel4.

Based in the center of London, we're a small but perfectly formed team that believe in intelligent working, flexibility and not being tied down to any particular methodology or technique. The most important this is developing awesome products and software in a creative and fun environment, not how expertly you scrumm!

The Job

As an ambitious start-up, we’re looking to hire star developers who thrive on developing complex social software at scale, who run impressive personal projects, and have a real passion for open-source development and its many communities.

We are less concerned about experience or career level, we just want to find the right person for the job.

Skills

Java can be a pretty revolting language in the wrong hands and we're looking for candidates that can take its enterprisey verbosity and develop concise, elegant code that's interesting for other developers to work on. Here's a list of the technologies that we use, and would expect candidates to have some experience / understanding of:

  • Spring (+Spring MVC)
  • NoSQL
  • Lucene
  • Concurrency++
  • Google libraries (collections especially)
  • Facebook API
  • Twitter API
  • ... pretty much every other API
  • Maven2

These technologies mean we can code at start-up speed but develop production-ready software for large-scale clients (and, more importantly, ourselves). Basically, if you can write Java and make it look like Ruby, you're in!
